This is a full-color photo book of cookbook author Andrew Barton’s collection of coffee bags, accompanied by anecdotes ranging from how he came to own particular bags to the graphic design choices of particular roasters to stories about his coffee-related experiences in Portland, Oregon and beyond.

“Something about seeing five years worth of one pantry item was fascinating to me. Once I got really into following different roasters, I loved knowing I was capturing the graphic design of their bags as it shifted and changed over the years. I also enjoyed the thought of the self-effacing quality of making art about this. I didn't give much thought to how the collection would end up, or who would ever see it. But I liked imagining some stranger in the future accurately assessing the project as being made by a middle class artsy boy/man drinking lots of coffee in a rainy city known for its coffee, silly enough to make an art project about the coffee itself. But then, like, actually looking at it.”
